BLS Teach-In

What Is It?

On Earth Day (April 17th) YouthCAN is inviting several speakers to BLS to connect climate change and corporate accountability.

Boston Latin School has a student body of 2,500 from seventh graders to high school seniors, and we hope to draw at least 200 students per speaking block. We have six time slots for speakers, each of which would be 30 minutes to 35 minutes in length, with 10 minutes of question time.

Our Current Speakers include Brad McNamara, CEO and CO-Founder of Freight Farms, Mirian Miller and Melanie Garaye talking about the Mystic River Watershed Association, and Michael Kozuch, the Director of Earth Day 2020.

We have been working to improve the sustainability at our school, our city, and our planet since 2007. YouthCAN has shifted the oldest school in the country into one of the most forward-thinking. We’ve brought a lighting retrofit, a recycling program, a freight farm, and more to BLS. It is crucial that our peers become more aware of the most pressing crisis of our age, and we’re continuing to educate the school about the various ways they can contribute to the fight against climate change.
