Our Mission
BLS YouthCAN seeks to take effective action in our communities and beyond to address the problems associated with global climate change and to promote education for sustainability.
350 parts per million (ppm) is considered by almost all scientists as the safe "upper limit" for the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.
In 2013, carbon dioxide levels crossed 400 ppm for the first time in around 2.5 million years, and according to NASA, in 2023, we reached 420 ppm. Human activities have raised the atmosphere’s carbon dioxide content by 50% in less than 200 years.
