The BLS Composting Program
BLS is the second Boston Public School to pioneer an in-school composting program! Partnering with Black Earth Compost, we've provided students with a composting option to keep leftover food from going to waste! Did you know that, in the United States, people waste 80 million tons of food every year, which equals 149 billion meals? Composting allows us to return those nutrients and carbon to the soil to improve soil quality, support plant growth and build resilience in our local ecosystems and communities, as well lowering greenhouse gases by improving carbon sequestration in the soil and by preventing methane emissions through aerobic decomposition! Help your school community by volunteering to become a Compost Champion to keep waste out of our compost bins! Link here!
